Shortly after two major contract victories on Dole flower plantations in Colombia in July, Dole Fresh Flowers announced plans to sell its global flower operations. According to the company, the sale is expected to be complete by early 2009.
It is not yet clear what the sale will mean for Dole flower workers, and for the two new contracts. While it is possible that the buyers of the farms will preserve the contracts signed with the unions, it is equally plausible that the contracts will not survive the transition. USLEAP is in contact with both the company and the workers and will continue to work to preserve these historic contract victories.
