Fighting for worker justice in the global economy.
Guiding Principles
USLEAP believes that in a global economy, it is in the best interests of workers in the U.S. that workers in other countries have the freedom to fight to improve their wages and working conditions and overcome poverty. As such, it supports workers in Latin America who are employed directly or indirectly by U.S. companies producing for the U.S. market, and focuses on the empowerment of workers in their own struggles for self-determination.
USLEAP operates on the premise that efforts in the global North to support economic justice for workers in the global South must be built on respectful partnerships with workers in the South. Without such partnerships and close coordination, support work in the North may unintentionally take forms that are not in the best interest of the workers themselves.
